京阪大レベルの英作文　No.2(2006年[平成18年]　前期　　京都大学)

　子供の頃にわたしが毎週欠かさず観たあるテレビ番組があった。その主役はどこ
にでもいそうな犬で、そいつがある町にふらりとやってきては、そこで起こった事
件の解決に協力し、人間からほめられる前に姿を消して、また次の町に向かって旅
をつづけるのだ。わたしをとりこにしたのは、一つの場所に安住せずに、たえず動
きつづける、その姿だったに違いない。

和文和訳→意味をとって分かりやすい日本文にまず直すべし！

①子供の頃わたしは毎週あるテレビ番組を必ず見ていた。②その主役はどこにでも
いそうな犬だった。その犬はある町にたまたま来ては、人々が事件を解決する手助
けをし、人間からほめられる前に立ち去り、また次の町に向かって旅をつづけるの
だ。③わたしがひきつけられたのは、おそらく彼が一つの場所に滞在し続けずに、
ずっと旅をし続けたからだろう。

(解答例１)中３〜高１レベルの英文で作ったもの。 60〜70％狙い！
①I used to watch a TV program every week when I was a child. ②The
hero in the program was a dog which didn’t look special.He happened
to visit a town, helped people solve a case, left the town without
saying anything before being praised by people, and kept on traveling
for another town. ③I must have been attracted by him, probably
because he didn’t stay in the same place for a long time and kept on
traveling from place to place.

①「子供の頃に」別にin my childhoodでもいいのだが、わざわざ間違うリスクの
高いほうを選んで書かなくてもいい。
②「どこにでもいそうな犬」＝「特別に見えなかった普通の犬」
「ふらりとやってきては」→「意図せずたまたまやってきた」と考えればいい。
「協力し」＝「手を貸し；手伝って」　help ＋人＋原形　人が〜するのを手伝う
※人やtoは省略可。
「事件」case が理想だが、わからなければproblemぐらいでごまかす。　
「ほめる」praiseぐらいは知っておきたいが、admireやspeak well ofでもOK。
③「とりこにする」＝「心をひきつける」attractで十分。
「たえず動き続ける」＝「ずっと旅をし続ける」kept on movingよりもkept on
travelingのほうが自然。

英作文力向上のためのワンポイントレッスン

becauseの前に適切な副詞を入れると色々な意味を表せるので便利！

「外出はめったにしない。その主な理由は子供の世話があるからだ。」
I rarely go out, mainly because I have to look after my child.

SV ( , ) probably because S’V’「おそらくS’V’という理由でSV」
He is saving money, probably because he wants to get married in the
near future.
「彼はお金を貯めている。おそらく近い将来結婚したいと思っているからだろ
う。」

SV ( , ) just because S’V’ 「単にS’V’という理由でSV」
You don’t have to be discouraged just because you’re not a genius.
「天才でないからといって、がっかりする必要はない。」

(解答例２)高１〜高２レベルの英文で作ったもの。　　　70〜80%狙い！
①I watched a TV program every week in my childhood. ②The hero of
the program was a dog, which looked familiar to us. He visited a town
without intention [ unintentionally ], helped people solve a case
there, went away before they admired [ spoke well of ]him, and went
on traveling for a new town. ③What attracted me must have been his
positive attitude: he never stayed in the same place and he always
tried to look for a new unfamiliar place.

(解答例３)S台予備校が作った高級解答。
①When I was a child, I watched a certain TV program every week.
②The hero of the show was a dog. There seemed to be nothing special
about him, but he appeared from nowhere in a certain town and helped
solve a case that had happened there. Before people praised him,he
went away and continued on his journey. ③I now believe that what
fascinated me about the program was the dog’s way of living: he
refused to live an easy life but always traveled from one place to
another.

(解答例４) 同じくS台が作った高級解答。　　　100％ではあるが・・・・
①In my childhood, I never failed to watch a television program every
week. ②The main character was a dog, the kind which seems to be seen
everywhere. The dog wandered into town, helped to solve a crime
there, vanished before being praised by the townspeople, and they
went on to the next town. ③What kept me glued to the screen must
have been the dog’s code of living: moving around all the time
instead of settling down in one place.

本番では60％もとれば全受験者の中でもトップクラスの仲間入り！
京大実戦や京大オープンでも平均点は150点中60点〜75点(40〜50％)めったなこと
では5割を超えることはない！

完璧主義は身を滅ぼすことを肝に銘じておこう！
